Renewable infrastructure and green technologies are generally long-term assets with high initial costs. This often stops businesses from making the investments required to become more sustainable despite these investments having great returns overall.

Despite this there are increasing options to finance these investments, reducing the initial cash outlay and making these fantastic technologies more accessible to all businesses.

How we can help?

Zeronify has partnered with a number of key financing companies to allow them to connect clients with several different financing options.

Additionally, Zeronify's deep understanding of the cash flow associated with renewable technologies means they are well placed to support customers with the financing decisions to meet their needs, whether it be maximising the return on investment or minimising the capital outlays required.

What to expect?

There are 2 major forms of finance appropriate for high-cost sustainable investments such as Solar PV

Asset Finance: Various forms of asset finance are available which allow companies to spread the cost of investments over periods from 5 to 10 years. For high-return investments such as Solar, it is often the case that the loan repayments are lower than the savings in energy costs made by the deployment of the asset. This means the investment may not require any upfront capital outlay. Additionally, many forms of asset finance allow the borrower to get the additional benefit of tax savings due to the application of capital allowances. Typically firms will be able to reduce their corporation tax burden by 12.5% of the investment value in the year of purchase with another 12.5% recovered over the life of the asset. This means that in some cases it's possible for an investment in Solar PV or similar products with asset finance to be cash-positive in a year!

Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) are a form of funding where a financial funder purchases an energy generation asset such as Solar on behalf of the company acquiring the asset. The funder takes responsibility for all maintenance of the asset and sells the energy generated back to the company at a discounted rate. After a set period of time when the funder has been effectively repaid ownership of the asset passes to the company and they get the full benefit of the asset for its remaining life. This is a great solution for companies keen to become more sustainable and reduce energy costs without taking any of the risks or initial costs associated with purchasing the asset.
