The project was secured through a traditional tender process that considered a combination of price, experience, and quality. Funded in part by the Public Sector Decarbonisation Fund (PSDF) and Salix, the work involved decarbonising the academy's swimming pool building. A comprehensive turnkey solution was delivered, covering detailed design, installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance. The traditional gas boilers were replaced with Remeha Air Source Heat Pumps, along with the installation of new pipework, inverter-driven high-efficiency pumps, a buffer vessel, a hot water calorifier, an upgraded air handling unit, power and BMS controls, improved internal heat emitters, water treatment, and balancing. The project was partially completed during the school term, with the academy and its buildings remaining fully operational.
